Hickory, N.C.-- Sal Carricato tied the program record with his 36th career home run as Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Newberry 7-4 in the first game of a three game series.
Joseph Mozingo was the hero in this one, hitting two home runs in the contest. This includes the go ahead home run in the 7th inning.
Andrew Harlow moved to 5-0 on the season after going eight innings on the mound with eight strikeouts and allowing two earned runs.

GAME INFO:
- The Wolves got on the board with a two-run infield single in the second inning.
- Sal Carricato then hit his eighth home run of the season to cut the lead to 2-1, an absolute blast to left center.
- The game remained 2-1 until Joseph Mozingo hit his first of two home runs. This one was a two-run shot in the 7th to give LR their first lead of the day.
- After LR scored two more times in the 7th, Mozingo hit a solo home run in the 8th to give LR a 6-2 lead.
- Down 7-2 in the 9th with two outs and no one, Newberry would have the tying run coming to the plate, but Mackenzie Wainwright threw out the Wolves pitch runner at third after a single to end the game.
- Andrew Harlow went eight innings for the second time this season, improving to 5-0. Peyton Schofield picked up the save after getting the final out of the game.
- LR had 13 hits, with seven of the hits coming in the final two innings.
- Micheal Logan went 4-for-4 at the plate with four singles.
- Wainwright and Carricato had their seventh multi RBI game with a pair of RBI's.
