Hickory, N.C. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne softball team got back on track today, taking down Catawba 9-1 and 8-0, both in six innings. In true walk-off fashion,
Katelyn Rackard walked home the winning run in game two.
Avery Kiger had a day, going 5-for-6 at the plate with three doubles, three RBI's, and two runs scored. The pitching duo of
Madison Wilson and
Faith Carrigan didn't allow a single walk all day.

STORY OF GAME ONE:
- After a scoreless first three innings, Catawba got on the board first with a solo home run in the top of the fourth.
- Lenoir-Rhyne opened the floodgates in the bottom half of the inning, scoring five runs.
- Madison Wilson and Julia Marigian each picked up two RBI's in the inning.
- Avery Kiger and Alexandria Gray extended the lead with RBI's in the fifth.
- Lani Warren hit a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to seal the win.
- Madison Wilson was the MVP of the game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's while also pitching six innings, allowing just one run on four hits.
STORY OF GAME TWO:
- Lenoir-Rhyne was methodical in this once, scoring twice in the second and third innings, once in the fourth, and three times in the sixth.
- Julia Mardigian notched two RBI's in the first two innings.
- Lani Warren hit the lone home run of the day for the Bears in the fourth inning, a solo shot to right field.
- Avery Kiger notched a 2 RBI double in the sixth before Katelyn Rackard closed things out with a bases loaded walk.
- Rackard, Kiger, Faith Carrigan and Cassidy Wall all notched two hits in this one.
- Carrigan pitched six shutout innings, allowing just five hits while stricking out four and walking none.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- This was a revenge sweep for the Bears as the Indians won both at their place last season.
- Faith Carrigan notched her second shutout of the year in game two.
- Lani Warren leads the team with a .400 batting average.
- Shena Hollar is now sits at 992 wins in her Lenoir-Rhyne coaching career.
