Hickory, N.C.-- Down 10-5 at halftime on Senior Day and 11-5 early in the second half, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse team completed the incredible comeback by scoring 12 of the next 14 goals to battle back and defeat Tusculum 17-13 inside Moretz Stadium.

Alexa Burghardt had a career high four goal as the Bears scored eight times in the decisive fourth quarter. The win puts the Bears over the .500 mark at 8-7 on the season.

STORY OF THE GAME:
- The two teams came out hot from the start as ten goals were scored in the first period. Ellie Campbell put in two of LR's four goals in the opening frame.
- The Pioneers controlled the second quarter as Tusculum scored four of five goals to take a 10-5 lead at the break.
- A halftime adjustment by the Bears held Tusculum to just three second half goals as the Bears scored twelve times in the final 30 minutes, including eight times in the fourth quarter.
- Tusculum's Elisha Stack had three early goals but the Bears shut her out in the second half.
- With the score 12-8 Tusculum, the Bears scored seven straight goals, including back-to-back from Alexa Burghardt to take a 15-12 lead.
- Abbey Walker and Jayden Wheeler closed the scoring out for the Bear with two late goals.
STATS OF THE GAME:
- Campbell, who had a game high five goals, also had three caused turnovers and had eleven draw controls. The eleven draw controls is fourth most in one single game for the Bears.
- LR caused 19 turnovers in this one, including five from Jayden Wheeler, who iced the game with her caused turnover and completed the breakaway with her second goal of the season.
- Chloe Christensen, Kirra Olson, Abbey Walker each had two goals for the Bears.
- Tusculum's Emily White made twenty saves inside the pipes as Sally Friesen had four for the Bears.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- LR is now 10-0 all-time against Tusculum.
- Freisen is now 19 saves away from becoming the third goalie in school history with 300 career saves.
- Campbell had six goals in 2022 against Mars Hill.
- Christensen had two caused turnovers to move her to 5th all-time with 67 career caused turnovers.
