HICKORY, NC - Sophomores
Madison Primm and
Lani Warren have been named the 10th and 11th Academic All-Americans in Lenoir-Rhyne Softball history. Primm was a first-team honoree while Warren was the lone catcher on the second-team.
The Bears joined Catawba as one of just two SAC schools to place two individuals on the team. In total, seven SAC softball players were named Academic All-Americans.
Primm is a Marketing major and holds a 3.89 GPA. She led the Bears in batting average (.436), hits (79), home runs (19), total bases (147), RBI's (58), and slugging percentage (.812). Her home runs were tied for fourth in DII, her total bases were 11th and slugging percentage 15th. In just two seasons as a Bear she already has 34 home runs, putting her sixth all-time in Bears history.
Warren is a Pyschology major and has a 3.97 GPA. She was second on the team with a .421 batting average and 14 home runs. The catcher from Forest City, N.C. was also named to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region Second Team, All-SAC First Team, and the SAC All-Tournament team. She started and played in all 57 games this season, totaling 77 hits, 58 RBI's, and 44 runs scored.
Both Primm and Warren were also named to the NFCA All-American Team, All-Region Team, and All-Conference team. This is the first Academic All-American honor for both individuals.
