JOHNSON CITY, TN - The 2nd ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Triathlon team opened their season at the ETSU Buccaneer Collegiate Cup on Friday, taking third out of six teams. They were the first DII team to cross the line, finishing just behind Queens and ETSU.
Highlighting the day was a fifth place finish from
Zoila Sicilia, who finished in a time of 28:04.75. Just a few seconds behind her was reigning national runner-up and 2023 national champion
Sabrina Fleig, who crossed the line in 28:07.97.
Isis Gaskin, just a sophomore, was the third competitor for the Bears to finish in the top-ten, taking ninth with a time of 28:34.31.
Claudia Teran-Romagosa was 15th in 29:07.03 while
Agathe Claude (29:40.25) and
Ashlynn Webb (29:56.33) were 19th and 20th, respectively.
This was a strong start to the season for Head Coach
Harley Mason and the Bears as they won't compete until they take part in the Lake Davidson Triathlon on Sunday, September 14th.
