Shorthanded Bears drop non-conference matchup to Palm Beach Atlantic

HICKORY, N.C. -- Despite playing with 10 men for 75 minutes against Palm Beach Atlantic, the Bears kept things close. Despite a valient effort, Lenoir-Rhyne fell 2-1 thanks to two second half goals from the Sailfish.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
  • In the 15th minute of the match, Fran Tita was shown a red card, dropping the Bears to 10 men for the rest of the game.
  • Neither team got off a shot until Palm Beach Atlantic's Juan Hermoso's shot went wide left in the 22nd minute.
  • Despite the man disadvantage, Lenoir-Rhyne held PBA to just five shots and went into the break tied 0-0.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne had three straight corner kicks in the 56h minute, but shots from David Grifell and Dati Chinchaladze were blocked.
  • The Sailfish got the breakthough goal in the 61st minute off the foot of Fabio Reck.

  • Bears will now start a tough three game road stretch with games at Emory & Henry, Wingate and #4 Anderson before their next home game on October 4th.
UP NEXT: The Bears will hit the road for the first time this year as will head to Emory & Henry on Wednesday, September 24th. The Wasps are 1-3 and 0-1 in the SAC, dropping a tough 1-0 contest to No. 4 Anderson earlier this week before defeating Virginia State on Wednesday. Emory & Henry will play Florida Tech on Saturday before hosting the Bears on Wednesday. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
