Bears Club posts successful Homecoming weekend

HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics wrapped up homecoming week with the 38th Annual Hanley Painter Memorial Golf Outing and The Bears Club Silent Auction, which closed on October 18.

It was another remarkable year for the silent auction, spearheaded by Shayna Skonieczki, Associate Director of the Bears Club, which raised $50,016 in total over a 10-day period.

The golf outing featured more than 200 participants on a beautiful morning and afternoon at Lake Hickory Country Club. The winners of the morning session were Patrick Laney, Brent Owen, Holt Allison, and Daniel Willis. The afternoon session was won by Andy Strock, Jon Pilkenton, Scott Miller, and Rick Nichols.

In total, the golf outing and silent auction raised $125,351 for the Bears Club, which supports scholarships and enhancements for more than 700 LR student-athletes.

"We are grateful for the generous support of the individuals and businesses who supported LR athletics through their contributions as hole sponsors, championship, platinum, and gold sponsorships," said Daron Montgomery, Vice President for Athletics.
