HICKORy, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University Athletics has announced the promotion of Will Cunningham to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations, effective November 3, 2026. 

Cunningham, who currently serves as the Director of Athletic Facilites and Operations, will assume an expanded leadership role overseeing the department's athletic facilities, event operations, and game-day management. 

"Will has demonstrated tremendous dedication to Lenoir-Rhyne Athletics and has become an integral part of our day-to-day operations," said Daron Montgomery, Vice President for Athletics. "His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a first-class environment for our student-athletes and fans are unmatched. As our department continues to grow, Will's leadership will be instrumental in helping us elevate our facilities and event operations."

In his expanded role, Cunningham will provide strategic leadership for the planning, management, and continued improvement of Lenoir-Rhyne's athletic facilities and event operations. He will play a key role in long-range facility planning, capital improvement initiatives, and the coordination of enhancements and upgrades across the university's athletic venues. 

Cunningham will also continue to oversee the operational execution of both internal and external events at LR athletic venues, including event preparation, game-day staffing, parking, security coordination, and visiting team services. Additionally, he will work closely with University departments, external organizations, and community partners to coordinate the use of athletic facilities.
