Women's Golf closes the fall ranked 26th; Eve Neild ranked 23rd individually

HICKORY, N.C. - Following a successful fall that saw the Bears post four top-10 finishes and a runner-up finish this last week, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's golf team is ranked 26th in the Clippd Fall rankings.

Lenoir-Rhyne plays in one of the toughest regions in the country, being ranked 14th in the South Region. Lenoir-Rhyne is the third highest ranked SAC school, coming in behind Anderson (#5) and Lincoln Memorial (#8), two perennial national powers. The highlight of the fall came this past week at the Currahee D2 Elite Invitational, where the Bears, competing against 10 of the top-50 teams in the country, stormed back with a 2-under par final round to jump seven spots and finish as runners-up.

"It's been a very good fall for us. Having an experienced team with four starters has really been an advantage for us," said head coach Chris Jones. "We play in a tough region and have a tough schedule, so I feel that has helped in our preparation for tournaments. I am excited to see what the spring has in store for us. These ladies continue to work both on and off the golf course, and it has paid off in the scores. Having some depth this year in our tournament line-up has really helped pushed the ladies to get better. I know these upperclassmen will pass down their work effort and dedication to the freshman who have entered this year."

Individually, Eve Neild has been on fire this semester. The senior has three top-three finishes and is ranked 23rd in the nation and 11th in the South Region. She is the second highest ranked SAC individual, just one spot behind Anderson's Sarah Martin. Neild, who was an NCAA Regional qualifier last season, has played in 15 rounds of golf this semester, carding six rounds under par. This includes a school record 66 on Tuesday at the Currahee D2 Elite Invitational and three rounds under par at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, the only individual in the field to accomplish that feat. Jaya Wilkinson (#123 nation, #57 region), Kajsa Hederas (#184 nation, #80 region), and Charlotte Colley (#186 nation, #81 region), have all been key pieces to Lenoir-Rhyne's fall success.
