HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to Catawba on Wednesday evening.

STORY OF THE MATCH:
- Catawba went up 1-0 on the first shot of the game, a rocket from 25 yards out in the 5th minute.
- Shots from Alvaro Sanchez and Xairo Villalon forced saves midway through the opening half.
- Just before the half Catawba capitalized on a Bear mistake and tapped it in to double their lead.
- Both teams struggled offensively in the second half with just six combined shots.
- The Bears went down to 10 men due to a red card and put up just one shot over the final 30 minutes of play.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Hector Taboada led the team with two shots, one of which was on goal.
- Liam Prendergast made two saves in net.
- The teams were even with four corners each and there were a combined 28 fouls in the match.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Lenoir-Rhyne leads the all-time series 24-23-5.
- This was the Catawba Indians first win over LR since a 3-2 victory in 2021.
- Catawba leads the SAC standings while the Bears sit in seventh.
