The race format was formally altered on Thursday, Nov. 5 after it was determined water quality following heavy rainfall and water release flowing through Tempe Town Lake did not meet standards for a safe swim.
Since 2021, Lenoir-Rhyne has won three Division II national championships (2022, 2023, 2025), were the 2024 runners-up and third in 2021. All three national championships have been under the guidance of head coach Harley Mason, who has won the previous four Division II National Coach of the Year awards.
The top 75-seeded triathletes were placed in Heat A, which includes the top 20 overall finishers from both the East and West Regional Championship events plus wild cards, determined by rankings. Heat B has the next 75 seeds, while "C" has the lowest-seeded entrants.
Participating for the Bears will be Zoila Sicilia (A), Agathe Claude (A), Isis Gaskin (A), Emma Leary (B), Emilia Dabadie (B), Ana Brown (B), and Alex Linden (B). Sicilia, Claude, Gaskin, Brown, and Linden were all members of last year's national championship squad, while Sicilia was the individual national champion.Â
Up to five individuals will be counted in each team's score, while the sixth and seventh finisher from a given team will displace other teams. Teams are limited to seven entries.
