HICKORY, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne baseball opened South Atlantic Conference play with a 14-0 loss to Wingate on Friday. 

Wingate's Chad Harvey pitched a complete game shutout for the Bulldogs, striking out six Bears in the process.

STORY OF THE GAME:

• Wingate scored four runs in the first on three hits and two errors.
• Four walks in the second inning plated three more Bulldogs.
• Three runs in the sixth and seventh innings sealed the win for the visitors.

• Trent Murchison, Mackenzie Wainwright, Sylas Boris, and Andrew Stillinger each had a hit.
• Seth Christmas was the only Bear who walked in the game.
• Michael Joyce (1-1) took the loss.

• Lenoir-Rhyne is 50-76 all-time against the Bulldogs.
• This was the first time the Bears have been shutout against Wingate since March 25, 2018.
• As a team Lenoir-Rhyne hadn't been shut out since an 11-0 loss at Auburn Montgomery on February 6, 2023. 
• Mackenzie Wainwright is on a 14-game hit streak dating back to last season.
