Men's Lacrosse defeats Lees-McRae 19-3

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's lacrosse team dominated Lees-McRae 19-3 on Saturday. 

The Bears were led on offense by Jack Mulligan and Morgan Madish, who each tallied five points. As a team Lenoir-Rhyne out-shot the Bobcats 64-25 and forced 21 turnovers.

STORY OF THE GAME
  • Morgan Madish got the Bears on the board with back-to-back goals to open the contest. 
  • The Bobcats got on the board in the final seconds of the first quarter as LR took a 3-1 lead after 15.
  • The Bears had five different goal scorers in the second period and took a 8-2 lead into halftime. 
  • Eli Busse had two goals and an assist while Donovan Powell had a goal and an assist in the third quarter.
  • The Bobcats were held scoreless in the third. 
  • Jack Mulligan closed the game in an impressive style with a fourt quarter hat trick. He also added an assist as the Bears closed this one out with a 19-3 win. 
STATS OF THE GAME
  • The Bears out shot the Bobcats 64-25 on the game. 
  • Mulligan led the Bears with four goals including the hat trick in the 4th.
  • Madish added three goals for the Bears, all in the first half. 
  • Jonathan Law had three caused turnovers as LR forced 21 on the day. 
  • Gavin Stabile made six saves in goal in first half and Owen Peters five saves in the second half. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • This is the first matchuup between programs since the 2014 season. 
  • LR is now 4-0 all-time against the Bobcats. 
  • The Bears does not travel outside of North Carolina the rest of the season except for a trip to Tusculum on April 1. 
NEXT UP: #1 comes to town on next Saturday as defending national champion Adelphi will face off against the Bears. Adelphi is 3-0 and comes down to North Carolina to play #10 Wingate on Wednesday before heading to Hickory on Saturday. This game is a rematch of the 2024 national championship that saw Adelphi win 12-10. Face-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
