HICKORY, N.C. - #10 Lenoir-Rhyne knocked off #3 Catawba 5-3 in a top ten showdown on Friday afternoon.
Michael Burnley made his first start went seven innings, allowing just three runs to earn his third win of the season.
Jack Renaud came in to get the final six outs and pick up his fifth save of the season.
Matt Procopio had three hits, including a two-out RBI in the seventh to extended the lead.
Andrew Stillinger had a key two-run single with
Sylas Boris and
Seth Christmas adding RBIs as well.

STORY OF GAME:
- After Catawba stuck for a run in the first the Bears countered with a three-run second highlighted by a two-run single by Stillinger.
- Catawba added single runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the game at three.
- Christmas had a two-out RBI double to drive in Procopio and give LR a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
- Procopio's third hit of the game was a two-out single in the seventh to stretch the LR lead to 5-3.
- Stillinger and Procopio both made key defensive plays in the 8th to keep Catawba off the scoreboard as LR took game one 5-3.
STATS OF GAME:
- Burnley (3-0) made his first start of the season going seven innings and holding the Catawba lineup to just three runs while striking out seven.
- Renaud picked up his fifth save in as many appearances.
- Procopio was the only Bear with a multi-hit game, his third of the year.
