Lenoir-Rhyne preps for Indoor Track & Field Nationals

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Four Bears will compete at the Division II Track & Field Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. No Lenoir-Rhyne men's track & field athlete has ever won a national title. Alexis Brown remains the only woman to ever win an individual title for the Bears.

Tobechukwu Nwokocha is the top seed in the long jump and earned that spot with a leap of 7.78m (25-6.25) at the Tryon Banked Invitational earlier this year. He has jumped over 7.70 meters twice this year and 7.50 meters six times. His lone counterpart at 7.70 meters is Benedict senior Zach Washington.

Mackenzie Pringle joins Holly Kone (outdoor, 2024) as the only women's triple jumpers to qualify for a national championship. Pringle set an indoor school record with a leap of 12.48m (40-11.50) at the VMI Winter Classic to secure her spot in the championships. The junior already has experience at the national level as she racked up multiple All-American honors at the NAIA level prior to joining the team at Lenoir-Rhyne. She has jumped over 12 meters eight times this year, including four times at the SAC Championships. Pringle is seeded fifth in the event.

Havyn Spain was the lone Bear to qualify in two events, the 200 and 400. The sophomore set a new school and SAC record in the 400 meters with a blistering time of 46.69 to win the SAC title in that event. He nearly picked up his second SAC Championship in the 200 meters, breaking the 21 second barrier with a time of 20.98 in the final, 0.01 behind the winner. This is his second championships as he was a 400 meter outdoor qualifier last year. He is seeded third in the 200 and 12th in the 400.

Antonyio Davis is Lenoir-Rhyne's second ever qualifier in the 60m hurdles, joining school record holder Kevin Baxter. Davis came two one hundredths of a second off Baxter's school record with a SAC Championship record time of 7.94, winning the event. He is seeded 14th out of 18 competitors.
