Salisbury, N.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne swept Catawba 6-5 and 9-1 on the road today.
Autumn Joyce hit an RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh to tie game one at five, then an error by Catawba give LR the 6-5 lead.
Madison Wilson shut down Catawba in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bears a SAC opening victory.
In the night cap,
Avery Kiger hit a grand slam while
Lani Warren also went deep as LR completed the sweep with a 9-1 victory. The win extends the Bears winning streak to 14 games.

STORY OF GAME ONE:
- With Catawba up 3-1, Avery Kiger hit a two-run home run in the top of the 4th to tie the game at three.
- Catwba then retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth after a Brianna Gallagher RBI single.
- With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Autumn Joyce hit an RBI single to first to score Chloe Woodward and tie the game.
- On that same play a throwing error from the Catawba shortstop allowed Sage Young to come around and score.
- That lead was extended to 6-4 after a fielders choice from Madison Primm allowed Madison Wilson to score.
- Catawba scored one in the bottom of the seventh but Wilson notched two consecutive strikeouts to win the game.
- Wilson (10-1) struck out eight in the win.
- Autumn Joyce and Madison Primm were each 2-for-4 with a run scored.
STORY OF GAME TWO:
- Catawba had a 1-0 lead into the fourth when LR pushes seven across the board, including the grand slam by Kiger.
- Warren added a solo shot in the fifth inning to push the lead to 8-1.
- Kiger's fifth RBI of the game give LR the 9-1 victory in the sixth inning via the mercy rule.
- Faith Carrigan picked up her 7th win in the circle with the complete game. She allowed just five hits and one run.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Bears have won five in a row against Catawba.
- Game one was Lenoir-Rhyne's first win in Salisbury since the 2022 season.
- Kiger's home runs were her 17th and 18th of her career.
- Wilson now sits at 48 career victories and is just four away from entering Lenoir-Rhyne's all-time top ten.
- Carrigan picked up career win number 30 today and is two strikeouts away from 250th career K's.
