Wise, VA-- Mackenzie Wainwright hit home runs in each game as the Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball team split with UVA-Wise on Saturday to open their weekend series.
Every Bears starter registered a hit in the 14-7 win in the opener but the Cavs used three home runs to steal the night cap 4-2.

STORY OF GAME ONE:
- The Bears opened a 9-7 lead through five innings then put up a five-run eighth to put the game away.
- LR got three unearned runs in the first to take the lead.
- Wainwright homered in the 5th to give LR a 7-5 advantage.
- Matt Procopio and Trent Murchison had RBI doubles to highlight the five-run eighth.
- All nine Bears had hits in the this one.
- Murchison also had a career high four RBIs and three hits.
- Michael Burnley picked up win number five with two scoreless innings in relief.
STORY OF GAME TWO:
- Lleyon Lackey got the Bears on the board with a RBI single in the second.
- The Cav's Carter Babb then hit solo home runs in the second and fourth to give UVA-Wise a 2-1 lead.
- Wainwright's solo home run tied the game at 2-2 in the 5th.
- Wise then added a two runs in the sixth to go up 2-0.
- The Bears loaded the bases in the 7th but Procopio grounded out on a 3-2 pitch to end the game.
- Kellen Gradisar took the loss throwing five innings, allowing three runs.
- LR was held to a season low three hits in the night cap.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This was UVA-Wise's first ever win against the Bears as Lenoir-Rhyne was 16-0 against their foes up north.
- Game one was Murchison's first three hit game of the season.
- Wainwright now has 35 career home runs at LR.
