Baseball puts up 19 hits in Sunday win at UVA Wise

WISE, VA - Lenoir-Rhyne rebounded from a game two loss yesterday to take down the UVA Wise Cavaliers 13-8 on the road. The Bears erupted for a seven-run fourth inning to pull away.

Mackenzie Wainwright hit his third home run of the series and 11th of the year in the third inning. Lleyton Lackey led the team by going 4-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

  • The Cavaliers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne scored single runs in the next two innings off an RBI from Lleyton Lackey and home run from Mackenzie Wainwright.
  • Lackey opened the fourth with a solo home run.
  • Two bases loaded walks led way to a 2 RBI single from Matt Procopio
  • Drew Beard and Nathan Kidder closed the inning with unearned runs.
  • Beard and Andrew Muraco each hit home runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
  • Procopio hit another RBI single in the seventh to close out the scoring for the Bears.
