Bears dominate Lions on the road

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse team got back in the win column with a dominating 18-1 victory at Mars Hill on Saturday. Seven different Bears produced multi-goal performances while Jessica Mikesell led the team with five ground balls. 

Sally Friesen made three saves in net as LR out-shot Mars Hill 37-8 and led 24-4 in shots-on-goal.

STORY OF THE GAME:
  • Hannah Thomas scored two first quarter goals to help the Bears to a 6-0 lead after one.
  • Jillian Daley scored a pair of goals in the second quarter as LR took an 11-0 lead into halftime.
  • Mars Hill finally got on the scoreboard at the beginning of the third quarter, but Kirra Olson quickly answered with a goal of her own.
  • The Bears scored four goals in the fourth and pulled away with an 18-1 win.
STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Abbey Walker and Hailey Larsen led the way offensively with two goals and one assist each.
  • There were 11 different goal scorers for the Bears. 
  • 15 of the 18 goals scored by the Bears were unassisted.
  • Four Bears caused at least two turnovers as the Bears finished with 11 caused turnovers.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne was 27-for-29 in clears while Mars Hill was 12-for-24.
  • The Bears had a 12-8 advantage in draw controls.
