Men's Lacrosse takes down Anderson for seventh straight victory

HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's lacrosse team made a statement on Saturday night, taking down #9 Anderson 19-14 for a key South Atlantic Conference victory.

Sloan Steward and Owen Scott tied for the team lead with three goals each, while Jarrett Huff led with five points (2g, 3a). Owen Peters made 12 saves in the win.

STORY OF THE GAME
  • The first half saw 10 goals scored in the first and 10 in the second.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne led 6-4 after one thanks to goals from six different Bears.
  • The Bears scored five of the first six goals of the second quarter to open up a convincing 11-5 lead.
  • Nate Serrano scored with two second left in the half to put the home side up 13-7 at the break.
  • Cannon Wigginton and Vincent Meehan scored two late goals in the third to put the Bears up 18-10 with just 15 minutes left.
  • Anderson outscored the Bears 4-1 in the fourth but it was too little, too late.
STATS OF THE GAME
  • 12 Bear scored in this one with five having multi goal games.
  • John Mink and Donovan Powell each caused three turnovers.
  • Zack Salo was the only Bear to pick up a penalty all game.
  • Anderson out shot the Bears 51-49 but only put 26 on frame, compared to 28 for the Bears.
  • Lenoir-Rhyne only went 16-for-36 on face offs but forced 16 Trojan turnovers.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Bears are now 5-2 all-time against the Trojans.

  • Jarrett Huff moved into ninth all-time on the career points list with 153.
