HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Track & Field teams split between three locations this week in their final meets before the SAC Championships. Distance was at Wake Forest, sprints and jumps at Georgia Tech, and throws at North Carolina A&T.
Lewis Budgen opened the weekend on Thursday with a new school record in the 10,000 meters, running a time of 31:01.01 to take 13th in the event. Budgen now owns the outdoor school records in the 3000, 5000, and 10,000.
Zoila Sicilia set a new PR in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:27.88, which ranks third in program history.
Sharonda Priester led the squad at Georgia Tech with a new school record time of 57.70 in the 400m hurdles. This doubles as the second fastest time in the country this year.
Mackenzie Pringle took 11th in the long jump with a leap of 5.59m (18-4.25), the fourth best leap in LR history. On the men's side
Havyn Spain impressed with another sub-47 second time in the 400m, crossing the tape at 46.92.
Antonyio Davis was fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.30.
Tobechukwu Nwokocha nearly jumped an outdoor season best in the long jump with a leap of 7.60m (24-11.25), finishing third in the competition. The men's 4x100m team consisting of
Corey Baker, Nwokocha,
Malachi Carter, and Spain clocked a time of 40.92 to take fifth.
Emily Grabow took 12th in the javelin at the NC A&T Aggie Invite with a throw of 25.97m (85-2.00).
Julia Karnilowicz came up just shy of a new personal best in the hammer throw with a toss of 37.74m (123-10).
Dion Enongene was the top finisher for the men, taking seventh in the javelin with a throw of 40.13m (131-8.00).
Lenoir-Rhyne's next meet will be the South Atlantic Conference Championships on April 29-30 in Emory, Virginia.
