ROCK HILL, S.C. - Freshman Danny Nugent and Brooke Reynolds have been awarded SAC Runner of the Week honors for their respective races at the Queen City Invite on Friday.

Danny Nugent placed 8th out of 260 runners, coming through with an 8k time of 25:09.7. This made him the second fastest DII finisher in the race as the other six top runners all compete at DI institutions. His performance helped the Bears take fifth as a team, trailing only Charlotte, North Florida, Marshall, and Elon. The last Bear to win Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week was former national qualifier Jacob Parkinson, who took home the award twice in 2024. 

Brooke Reynolds was stellar in the first collegiate race of her career, taking 41st out of 222 runners with a 5k time of 19:07.7. This time is just five seconds off her XC 5k personal best and helped the Bears to an 11th place finish amongst a field of mostly DI opponents. Teammate Zoila Sicilia is the last Bear to win the Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, winning it in week two of last year.
