CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Lenoir-Rhyne women's golf team opened their season at the City With Spirit Fall Classic, taking ninth out of 16 teams.
The Bears shot a 921 (+57) as a team, posting a team best round of +15 in round two. Lincoln Memorial won the tournament with an 875 (+11).
Leading the way for the Bears was freshman
Kajsa Hederas, who placed sixth in her first collegiate event with a 219 (+3). Her second round score of 67 was the lowest in the tournament by any player in the field. Senior
Jaya Wilkinson led for much of the tournament and ended in a tie for seventh with a 220 (+4). Her second round 69 sat behind Hederas as the second lowest score of the tournament. Reigning regional qualifier
Eve Neild was the third lowest scoring Bear, finishing with a 226 (+10) with a consistent three rounds of 76-75-75.
Kajsa Hederas led the entire field with 11 birdies, while
Jaya Wilkinson was tied for fourth with nine. Wilkinson was great on par-3s, tying for third with an average of 2.92 (-1).
Eve Neild was seventh with 37 pars over the course of 54 holes.
INDIVIDUAL SCORES
The Bears travel to McCormick, South Carolina, next Monday/Tuesday to take part in the Savannah Lakes Women's Invitational at the Monticello Golf Club.
