Misenheimer, N.C. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne Women?s Soccer Team (13-6) shut out Pfeiffer University (10-5-3), 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon in a rain-soaked non-conference affair at N.E. Lefko Field in Misenheimer, N.C.? Junior midfielder Rebecca Lin (Northridge, Calif.) notched the only goal of the match and her fourth of the season to lead the Bears to victory.
L-R continued its recent trend of scoring early as freshman midfielder Marianne Broevik (Drammen, NORWAY) slipped a pass to Lin in the 18th minute and Lin found the back of the net to give the Bears the 1-0 lead.
Lenoir-Rhyne held a 15-7 advantage in shots as it generated plenty of scoring chances despite the sloppy conditions.
Senior Katelyn Burwell (Carthage, NC) made two saves in the win for the Bears while picking up her third shutout of the year.? Sophomore Jamie Alcala (Fredricksburg, Va.) made three saves for the Falcons in the loss.
