Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Makes It Four Straight With A 4-1 Win Over King

Bristol, Tenn. ? The Lenoir-Rhyne Women?s Soccer Team (5-1) won its fourth straight game Saturday afternoon when it defeated King (4-2), 4-1, at Parks Field.? Freshman midfielder Elizabeth Hawes (Valdese, N.C.) became the third Bear this year to tally a hat trick as L-R scored all four of its goals in the first half en route to the win (Shannon Agnew and Laura Linehan were the others).

L-R got things go in the ninth minute when Hawes scored on a 25-yard shot to the back corner of the goal.? Junior forward Rebecca Lin (Northridge, Calif.) assisted on the play.

Sophomore midfielder Mariel Mena (Gainesville, Fla.) made it 2-0 with a goal in the 26th minute and the rout was on.

Hawes rounded out the scoring for L-R with two more goals late in the first half before Emma Wells (Boone, N.C.) notched King?s only score at the 65:58 mark of the second half.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) improved to 2-0 with the win in goal.? Scruggs saved six shots for the Bears.

L-R returns home to play Brevard in its South Atlantic Conference opener on Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m.
