The Eagles? Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, ENGLAND) scored three goals for the hat trick as Carson-Newman remained in sole possession of first place in the league standings.
The Bears opened the scoring in the 19th minute when freshman forward Chibuzo Nwosu (Macon, Ga.) chipped in a corner kick by sophomore midfielder Oriol Cortes (Barcelona, SPAIN).? Nwosu is tied for the team lead in goals with six in 2010.
Carson-Newman tied the match with just 15 seconds remaining in the first half when Hill was credited with the goal after a misplay by several L-R defenders that caused a deflection off Hill that bounced into the goal.
L-R senior forward Dave Bailey (Bath, ENGLAND) broke the one-all tie with his team-tying sixth goal of the year when he finished off a long free kick from senior defender Martin Graham (Cumbria, ENGLAND) in the 76th minute.? Graham and junior forward Nicky Matthews (Bradford, ENGLAND), who was also in on the play, were both credited with the assist.
Carson-Newman took complete control from there, starting with Taylor Jolley?s (Morristown, Tenn.) first goal of the year just 38 seconds later with a shot just outside the top of the box.
Hill then scored the game-winner 42 seconds after Jolley?s goal when he finished off a throw-in by Ben Backstrom (Knoxville, Tenn.), who was credited with the assist.
Hill completed the hat trick in the 87th minute after taking a pass from Backstrom on the counter attack and placing the ball into the back of the net after several moves through the defense.
Carson-Newman goalkeeper Jordan Moore (Hendersonville, Tenn.) notched the win after stopping 11 shots while L-R senior Tom Heath (Solihull, ENGLAND) suffered the loss in goal.
