Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Shuts Out Lincoln Memorial, 2-0, In Key Road Win

Harrogate, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Soccer Team (9-1, 4-0) ran its winning streak to eight matches with a 2-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial University (9-2, 2-2) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference showdown.

Junior midfielders Catherine Hauck (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Kaelia Frazier (Cedar Falls, Iowa)?both scored for the Bears, who matched their best start after 10 games since an 8-0-2 start to the 1993 season.

After a scoreless first half, Frazier finally helped the Bears break through with an unassisted goal in the 54th minute as she put in a deflected shot off the crossbar.

L-R made it 2-0 when Hauck scored a goal in her third straight match at the 69:21 mark of the second half after chasing down a long pass and chipping the ball into the net.

Lenoir-Rhyne, which is now in sole possession of second place in the conference standings, held a 16-6 advantage in shots and picked up its second straight shutout.

L-R sophomore Caitlin Scruggs (Torrance, Calif.) picked up the win in goal for the Bears after stopping three shots while Lincoln Memorial goalkeeper Sarah Thompson (Frederick, Md.) suffered the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Belmont, N.C., to take on undefeated and No. 16 Belmont Abbey (12-0) Monday at 4 p.m.? In the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Regional rankings, the Bears are ranked sixth while the Crusaders are third.

Lincoln Memorial is off until Saturday, October 16, when it faces league-rival Catawba in Salisbury, N.C., beginning at 4:30 p.m.
