Harrogate, Tenn. - The Lincoln Memorial Men's Soccer Team (7-2-1, 3-1) handed Lenoir-Rhyne University (6-4, 2-2) its third straight defeat with a 2-0 win over the Bears Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match.
The Railsplitters received goals from Fabio Costa (Campos do Jordao, BRAZIL) and Jose Moreno (Longmont, Colo.) as Lincoln Memorial wrapped up a four-match homestand.
Costa scored in the 24th minute off a pass from Lucas Pereira (Monte Siao, BRAZIL) while Moreno made it 2-0 at the 60:01 mark after being credited with the goal after the L-R goalkeeper muffed a cross.? Costa and Moreno each tallied their first goals of the season as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne lost despite holding a 14-11 advantage in shots including five shots on goal from junior forward Nicky Matthews (Bradford, ENGLAND).?
Lincoln Memorial's Michael Watkins (Statesville, N.C.) tallied seven saves and earned the shutout win in goal while Lenoir-Rhyne freshman goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) suffered the loss.
