Brevard, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (5-1, 2-0) shut out Brevard College (0-7-1, 0-2), 6-0, Wednesday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at the Brevard Soccer Complex thanks to a pair of hat tricks by senior forward Dave Bailey (Bath, ENGLAND) and freshman forward Chibuzo Nwosu (Macon, Ga.).
Bailey opened the scoring with a penalty kick just 54 seconds into the match before making it 2-0 in the 29th minute after finishing off a pass from senior defender Martin Graham (Cumbria, ENGLAND).
Nwosu got into the act just a little over three minutes later when he scored on a one-on-one as the Bears entered the break with a 3-0 advantage.
Bailey scored his third and final goal at the 62:11 mark of the contest after taking a pass from junior midfielder George Wilson (London, ENGLAND).
Nwosu registered the match's final two goals?as both scores were on headers off of free kicks from sophomore midfielder Oliver Worth (Sheffield, ENGLAND).
Senior Tom Heath (Solihull, ENGLAND) and freshman Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) combined for the shutout in goal, the Bears' third of the year.? Brevard's goalkeeper, Pauli Jussila (Valkeakoski, FINLAND), suffered the loss.
The Bears also pushed their winning streak to four matches to go along with their third road win of the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked seventh in the recent NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll, returns home to face Belmont Abbey on Saturday at 7 p.m., while Brevard hosts Lincoln Memorial in a league contest Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.
