Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Defeats King, 2-1, In Double Overtime

Lenoir-Rhyne senior midfielder Jordan Holmes scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime Wednesday afternoon in the Bears' 2-1 road win over King in Bristol, Tenn.

Bristol, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (4-5-1) picked up a 2-1 double overtime win against King (Tenn.) Wednesday afternoon at Parks Field.? Senior midfielder Jordan Holmes (Southport, ENGLAND) scored the game-winning goal just 48 seconds into the second overtime for the Bears.

With the score tied at one, Holmes picked up a loose ball and connected into the right side of the goal to lift the Bears to the win.? Holmes is now tied for the team lead in goals with three.

Senior forward Daniel Jones (Wrexham, ENGLAND) opened the scoring for Lenoir-Rhyne in the 26th minute when he finished off a corner kick from sophomore midfielder?Mehmet Karakilinc (Lanester, FRANCE), who assisted on the play.

King tied the match at one just over two minutes later after Tom Winspear (Yarm, ENGLAND) scored off a pass to the center by Zach Caracciolo (Clarksville, Tenn.).

The contest remained one-all until Holmes finally scored to lift the Bears to the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne also held a 23-11 advantage in shots taken while sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) picked up the victory after stopping three shots.

King (2-6-1) goalkeeper Stefan Kwiatkowski (Ocala, Fla.), who made five saves, suffered the loss.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to Hickory, N.C., to host South Atlantic Conference-rival Lincoln Memorial on Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m.? King hosts Rio Grande on Saturday at 4 p.m.
