Women’s Soccer Takes Down Trojans On The Road, 2-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team has been a group of road warriors all season, and that trend continued as the Bears took down the Trojans, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•  After a half of scoreless soccer, senior Abbey Brown stepped up for the Bears, knocking in two goals within five minutes of one another to put the Bears on top in Trojan territory.
•  The Bears managed to control the tempo of the match, outshooting Anderson 15-8 (6-3 on goal). In addition, the visiting squad had three chances on corner kicks while the home team only had one corner kick opportunity.
•   Anderson's keeper, Abby Helm, who came into the match giving up less than one goal per game (0.83 goals against average) gave up two today and took the loss, dropping her record to 7-3-1 and picked up four saves in the process. Bears keeper and senior Lauren Sterling picked up three saves of her own while recording a shutout and improving her record to match the team's, 10-5-1.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
•    After two goals today, Brown continues to be on a tear when scoring this season, racking up a total of 16 goals and 38 points. She leads the conference in both of those categories.
•    With the victory, the Bears have locked up a No. 3 seed in the conference tournament that begins on Tuesday.
•    To this point, the Bears have been dominant on the road and own a 7-1-1 record away from Hickory. The Bears are also riding a winning streak of three games.

It is SAC Tournament time! The Bears will host the quarterfinal round on Tuesday evening against the No. 6 seeded Tusculum Pioneers.
