It will be a matchup of great offense vs. great defense as the Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team travels to Newberry for a meaningful South Atlantic Conference matchup. The winner of Saturday's contest will be the last undefeated team in league play and have the inside track at a regular season championship.

The Bears enter play ranked No. 11 in the nation in scoring, averaging 41.6 points per game. The Bears have topped 30 points in each contest this season and their rushing attack ranks No. 16 in all of Division II. Jaquay Mitchell leads the SAC with four rushing touchdowns on the year. Against Tusculum, Mitchell took the opening LR play to the house on a 65-yard touchdown run. The junior has added a pair of touchdowns through the air as well.

T.J. Smith tied a program record with three receiving touchdowns in LR's win over Tusculum. The senior got behind the defense for a 78-yarder in the fourth quarter to become the sixth WR in program history to catch a trio of touchdowns in a game.

As a team, LR ranks in the top-25 in the nation in rushing yards per game (16th) and total offense (24th).

On the other side of the ball, the Newberry defense ranks No. 17 in the land in rushing defense, permitting a stingy 93.4 rushing yards per game. The Wolves are ranked inside the top-10 in Division II in scoring defense at 13.4 per game.

Jamarcus Henderson became Newberry's all-time leader in both sacks (26.5) and tackles for loss (52.5) last Saturday. He is 3.0 sacks and 4.5 TFL's from the all-time SAC record. Markell Castle needs 24 yards to become the third 2,000-yard receiver in Newberry history.

Over the last 47 meetings, the head-to-head series between the two programs is even at 23-23-1. However, Newberry has won the past three matchups.
