Murfreesboro, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Basketball Team wrapped up a four-game road trip to open the season and ended the stretch with a 61-49 victory against the Chowan University Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

STATS OF THE GAME:

Kendall Toineeta led the Bears in scoring with 15 points and was aggressive on the floor as she added five rebounds, led the team with three assists, two steals and a block. Three different Bears scored eight points – senior
Ashley Rodriguez, freshman
Hanna McClung and sophomore
Olivia Nunn.
• The Bears were active on the defensive end with three players having multiple steals – Toineeta,
Madi Suddreth and
Allie Wagner. Toineeta, Suddreth and
Karlie Bearden also added one rejection a piece.
• LR only shot 34.4 percent from the floor and 23.8 percent from long range but were active and efficient from the charity stripe making 14-of-17, good for 82.4 percent. The Hawks only shot 30.9, 17.6 and 63.2 percent respectively.
• The Bears had the advantage on the glass, winning the rebounding battle by a count of 43-38. This led to a 19-7 count in points off turnovers, in favor of the Bears.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• Seven of the 11 players to step on the floor for the Bears put up at least five points in the game.
• Suddreth's double-digit scoring streak came to an end today after six games, dating back to last season. In losses the senior is averaging 20.5 per contest, and in wins she has put up 8.5 per game, allowing for a more balanced scoring attack for the Bears.
• Toineeta's point total has allowed her to lead LR in scoring for the second straight game, and she is averaging 16.5 points per contest in that stretch.

LR will play at home for the first time this season and open South Atlantic Conference play this Tuesday, Nov. 20 against Newberry at 5 p.m.
