Jefferson City, Tenn. – The Lenoir-Rhyne University's Women's Basketball Team hit the road for the 2018-19 season opener, but fell to the Lander Bearcats in a second half comeback, 55-53, on Friday night in the Peach Belt/South Atlantic Conference Challenge.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Lenoir-Rhyne held the lead for the majority of the game, but gave up a 13-3 run late in the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference, leading to a missed opportunity for the Bears to tie the game with just over six seconds left to play.
• Preseason All-Conference selection
Madi Suddreth performed up to expectations, stuffing the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists on the night.
• The Bearcats were led by junior guard Symone Starks, who paced all scorers with 19 points to go along with three boards, one block and one steal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears managed to have six players score six or more points.
• This marks back-to-back seasons that LR has dropped the season opener and the second-straight year the Bears open the season with a two-game nonconference challenge, last season being the SAC/Conference Carolinas Tip-Off Classic, this year the PBC/SAC Challenge.
