Rock Hill, S.C. – The Accolades keep rolling in for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team on Monday as the United Soccer Coaches tabbed senior
Abbie Brown and junior
Christina Shimshock as Second Team Academic All-Americans.
Shimshock, a junior defender for the Bears, is a health and exercise science major with a 3.81 grade point average. She played nearly 1500 minutes while starting in all 18 games for Lenoir-Rhyne and was an elite distributor, racking up four assists. She anchored a defense that had seven shutouts during the 2018 season.
Brown, an elite scorer and Leeds, England native, is also a health and science major with a 3.87 GPA. The forward managed to lead her team with 16 goals and six assists for 38 points. Six of those goals are game-winners.
This is the first time since 2014 for the Bears to place multiple players on an All-American team when Garcelle Alequine and Brianna Belsky earned the honor.
