HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team blanked South Atlantic Conference foe Wingate Bulldogs by a score of 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex, with junior
Aqsa Mushtaq leading the way with two goals in the match. This win continues a streak not many can complain. The Bears have not lost a regular season match to Wingate since Oct. 20, 2009.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

Mushtaq managed to score her first two goals of the 2018 campaign followed by senior
Abbie Brown's team-leading eighth score of the year and
Hannah Van Eerden added her third of the season off an assist from Brown.
• Lenoir-Rhyne owned the possession the majority of the match, outshooting the Bulldogs 12-8, and were efficient while doing so, outgaining Wingate on shots on goal, 10-4. LR managed to have more opportunities from the corner, 4-3 as well. Both teams managed to keep the fouls in check with 10 apiece. Three yellow cards were given to Bulldogs on the afternoon.
• Senior standout,
Loren Sterling was once again impenetrable in goal, playing the full 90 minutes with four saves and improving her record to 6-2-1.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• Following the win, the Bears picked up their first victory at home, improved to 4-1 in SAC play and are winners of four matches in a row.
• LR holds the second spot in the conference poll while being tied in the lead in terms of points with Carson-Newman (12).
• Two Bears had dynamic performances, leading to top in their statistical categories, including Brown who is second in goals (8) and assists (4) as well as Sterling, who leads the SAC in saves with 38 and is third in save percentage with 82.6%.
