HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team continued their impressive play in South Atlantic Conference action, as they took down rival Wingate, 3-1, in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon.

STATS OF THE MATCH:

Victor Cascon managed to give the Bears a fast start, scoring his fourth and fifth goals of the year in the first half of play.
Cameron Saul continued his aggressive play adding his third of the year to give the Bears more than what they needed to put the Bulldogs away.
• Lenoir-Rhyne were by far the more aggressive unit, outshooting the road team 14-6 (8-3 on goal). The Bulldogs had more chances on corner kicks, 4-3, but the entire match was a physical back-and-forth as there were 30 total fouls (19-11 in favor of the Bulldogs) in addition to the nine yellow cards and red card given out by the referees.
• Junior Alex Langer has continued to hold his own this season, adding two saves and improving his overall record to 4-3, as the team stands as well. Pablo Jara of Wingate picked up five saves and took the loss for the Bulldogs.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
• With the win, LR holds a winning 2-1 record at the Moretz Sports – Athletic Complex and a 3-1 record in conference play.
• The Bears have now beaten Wingate two years running, with a 1-0 defensive battle on the road last season.
• Cascon, the former All-SAC selection, has surpassed his total goals from last season (4) with five through just seven matches.
