RESULTS
Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Golf team finished in first place at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate Tournament. The Bears shot a 603 (+27) beat out seven other teams.
Playing in a field that consisted of four other South Atlantic Conference programs, the Bears beat the next closest SAC opponent Tusculum by 19 strokes.
Beatriz Espelosin led the Bears, finishing in 1st
place while shooting 74-73--147 (+3). Espelosin birdied six holes on the tournament for her first career individual championship.
Megan Robb,
Ainee O'Connor, and
Katie Sibley were all right behind her finishing in the top 10. Robb and O'Connor improved in the second round with scores of 73 and 75 respectively.
The Bears captured their third Top Five finish of the year and second tournament win.
"The end result was great, we love to have team wins," said Gealy after the tournament. "It's what we play for each and every week. The main thing from this day is that we played for each other. We never know what the outcome is going to be, all we can do is control ourselves. The last nine holes went our way and we came out with a two-shot win."
The Bears will be back in action Oct 7th at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
