Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Tennis teams has added three more signees to their touted 2020 recruiting class.

The Women's team will add Alicia Wahlberg and Evgeniya (Jane) Pugina. Alicia Wahlberg, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, joins the Bears after a successful singles career overseas. Head Coach Jesse Tarr had this to say about Wahlberg
"I am so glad to welcome Alicia to LR. She is a tremendous athlete who has a strong passion for team tennis. She has consistently produced at a high level in Sweden and has the potential to be a very successful college tennis player."

Evgeniya (Jane) Pugina, hailing from Omsk, Russia, comes to LR after a strong youth career overseas. Pugina has been ranked in the top 20 in the juniors in Russia. She owns a UTR high rating of 8.30. Pugina is currently ranked a 3-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net and has been training in Sarasota, Florida.

She is very mature for her age, training in Florida across the world from her home country. Her tennis results speak for themselves. She has been successful in two countries and I believe her best tennis is still ahead of her."

The Men's team will add Anton Van Nunen to the 2020 class. Van Nunen, a native from Linkopig Sweden, will be reuniting with his brother Eric Van Nunen on the men's team. Van Nunen is a  2-time doubles quarterfinalist in the Swedish Championships (once with Patrik Alvestrand- current LR freshman). He is also ranked in the top 40 in singles in his age group in Sweden and won a regional champion with his brother Eric in doubles.

Head Coach Jesse Tarr had this to say about Van Nunen
"Anton is the second LR Bear in his family, joining his brother Eric. Anton, Eric and his family are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Swedish tennis has a very high level and Anton has been successful in both singles and doubles.  He is a quality athlete who has a drive to get better. When it comes to the Van Nunen's, the more the better here at LR."
