HICKORY, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team doubled up UVA-Wise 22-11 on a windy Friday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.
Gia Colombo scored five goals and added an assist as the Bears moved to 2-0 in the conference this season.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Aside from Colombo's five goals,
Suzy Smith had a career-high four.
Cathleen Gaffney and
Alyssa Sack each finished with three goals and handed out three assists each.
• Colombo led LR with four ground balls and five draw controls as well. The sophomore was a perfect 4-for-4 in free position shots.

Kiley Yurchak,
Isabelle Dunnam and
Liz Black each caused two turnovers.
• The Bears took advantage with the extra player, scoring three times while UVA-Wise was a player down due to yellow cards.
• The Cavaliers scored the first two goals of the game before LR rattled off eight straight to seize the momentum.
• The Bears held a 33-25 advantage in shots and 32-18 lead in shots on goal. Only one of LR's shots wasn't on target. LR went 18-for-20 in clears, while the Cavs went just 12-for-20.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
• The Bears are 2-0 against UVA-Wise all-time with today being the first SAC matchup between the two programs. The Cavs are in their first year in the league.
• The assist was Colombo's first of the season and fifth of her career.
• Gaffney is now seven assists shy of 100 for her career.
• Sack has 84 goals which places her seventh in LR history, surpassing Hayley Beattie who had 83.
