PREVIEW: Cross Country Prepares for SAC Championship

Course Map-Men's 8K  I Course Map-Women's 6K

HICKORY, N.C. -- The Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country Teams will be heading to Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday morning for the 2021 SAC Championship. The event will be hosted by Queens University and will be held at McAlpine Creek Park. McAlpine is a flat, firm, and very fast course consisting of a wide crushed gravel path. 
 
The Men will kick off first for their 8K race starting at 9 AM. Senior Sean Incardona is looking to improve on his 21st place finish in his last SAC Championship in 2019. Sean has lead the Bears in three of the four races so far this year including a 13thplace finish in the season opener in Salisbury. The Bears came away with a fourth place finish in the 2019 SAC Championship. 
 
The Women will race at 10:30 AM for their 6K race. The Women enter the championship nationally ranked for the first time ever in program history. The Bears came in at 29thin the latest national poll and will be joined by Queens (8th) and Wingate (11th) as one of three nationally ranked teams in this years championship. The Bears trio of Janet Kwambai, Caroline Hilliard and Kylie Dahlberg all look to improve on their top ten performance in their last SAC Championship run in 2019, which saw the Bears finished third. The women haven't finished higher than third since 2012.
