Team/Individual Results
Spartanburg, S.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country teams raced in the NCAA Southeast Regional Saturday Morning at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C. The women's 4th place finish is the best team finish at the NCAA Regional in program history while the men finished 13th out of 23 teams in the morning.
The men were lead by Junior
Sean Incardona, who finished in 61st place with a total time of 34.05. After Incardona, four freshman finished for the Bears.
Lewis Budgen finished in 63th place (34.07),
Jacob Parkinson finished third for the Bears in 82nd place with a time of 34.36.
Harrison Hickman (98th) and
Noah Julian (100th) rounded out the scoring for the Bears. LR finished with 389 team points and a total time of 2:53.11.
Janet Kwambai led the women with her 5th place finish. Kwambai had a 21.24 time, which will guarantee her a spot in Nationals on November 20th in Tampa, Fla.
Caroline Hilliard finished 19th with a time of 22.25.
Kylie Dahlberg finished right behind her in 23th place.
Kathrin Polke had a time of 23.03 for a 35th place finish and
Jordan Cruce gave the Bears all five runners in the top 50 with her 47th place finish.
The women finished tied for fourth but earned the tie-breaker over Flager as Elizabeth Kisser finished 55th four spots ahead of Flager's Malia Cryan to give the Bears the key tiebreaker advantage. Flager came into the event 4th in the regional rankings one spot ahead of the Bears as both team will be looking for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
With the top three teams today earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, the Bears will now will wait until Monday to see if they will receive one of the ten at-large bid to Tampa. The Bears have never had a team qualify for Nationals.
