AUSTIN, Texas -- Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward
Victor Cascon has been announced as a CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-American as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (COSIDA). Cascon joins Rueben Morillas, a first team selection in 2018, to give Lenoir-Rhyne two academic All-Americans in a three-year span.
Cascon earned the South Atlantic Conference's Offensive Player of the Year as he led the Bears to a 6-1-1 record and a spot in the SAC Conference Tournament title game. Cascon finished with 15 points on six goals and three assists and ranks fourth in program history in goals scored (27) and sixth in points (64).
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division II Academic All-America® program.
Based on the absence of most fall sports competition, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Committee revised some rules and procedures for nominating student-athletes this season. Due to the low percentage of games completed this season, the nominees were selected based on career statistics and achievements.
