Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne's Softball won their six straight game this week with a doubleheader sweep of visiting UNC-Pembroke.
Lauren Rakes threw a complete game shutout with 12 strikeouts in game one and
Kendall Osborne went 2-3 with her first career home run in the nightcap.
Savannah Moorefield extended her hitting streak to thirteen games with a single in each game today.

STATS OF GAME ONE:
- Bears got on the board first with an unearned run in the bottom of the second. Rakes came around to score after a throwing error on UNC Pembroke's Mary Sells.
- LR added three in the bottom of the third with RBIs hits from Cassidy Wall, Julia Mardigian and Rakes.
- Rakes went the distance for her second complete game shutout of the season. Rakes struck out 12 while only allowing four hits.
STATS OF GAME TWO:
- Tatum Brummitt got Pembroke on the board first with an RBI double in the top of the 1st.
- LR countered with two in the bottom half including an RBI single from Lora Beth Wood.
- Kendall Osborne hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the second to give the Bears a 3-1 lead.
- The teams traded runs in the third inning as the Bears took a 4-2 lead into the 4th.
- Osborne then had an RBI single in her next at bat to make it 5-2 and Katelyn Rackard added a two-run triple to give the Bears a 7-2 advantage.
- Morgan Beeler got the win in game two to move to 3-3 on the year. Beeler gave up just two runs in the complete game win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- UNC-Pembroke run in the first inning of game two were the first earned run the Bears pitching staff has given up in 33 2/3 innings.
- The six-game winning streak is the longest since opening the 2020 season with ten straight wins.
- Moorefield extended her hitting streak to 13 games to start the season with a hit in each game.
- Osborne's home run was the seniors first career home run.
- After just four triples all last year, Rackard's triple in the nightcap was the Bears' first of the year this season.
- Rakes went 3-0 with one save in 19 1/3 innings this week while striking out 34 hitters and allowing no runs.
