CLERMONT, FL - Head Coach Harley Mason and the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Triathlon Team are going ring chasing this weekend. The Bears will look to three-peat at nationals after taking home the title in 2022 and 2023. After last year's triumph in Arizona, this race will take place in Clermont, Florida, for the first time ever.
Seven athletes will be competing for the Bears, with five participating the "A" wave and two in the "B" wave. Reigning individual champion
Sabrina Fleig will lead the charge in the A wave, along with
Zoila Sicilia,
Eliska Rihova,
Claudia Teran-Romagosa, and
Maidi Quezada-O'Connor. Freshman
Isis Gaskin and
Alessandra Maso will represent the Bears in the B wave.
The race was originally supposed to take place all on Saturday at Lake Louisa State Park, but due to damages from Hurricane Milton, the race will take place over the course of two days.
- Friday, November 8 - Lake swim at Clermont Water Sports Complex
- A Wave - 10:45 AM
- B Wave - 11:05 AM
- Saturday, November 9 - Bike/run and Lake Louisa State Park
- B Wave - 12 PM
- A Wave - 2 PM
Athletes will go off on Saturday based on their swim finish on Friday. For example, if the fastest swimmer in the A wave clocks a time three seconds faster than the second fastest swimmer, they will get sent off on the bike three seconds before the swim runner up, and so on and so forth. The top-five athletes on each team score, regardless of which wave they start in.
A send off for the Bears will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the parking lot outside Shuford Arena.
