Colley in the Individual Lead After Round One of Battle at Hilton Head

FULL RESULTS

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- After the first round of the Battle at Hilton Head hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the Robert Trent Jones - Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, Lenoir-Rhyne's talented freshman Charlotte Colley sits in first place individually. Colley finished fourth in last week's Spring Kickoff and posted her best round of the year with a 71 today.

Colley had a bogey on the first hole and on hole nine but was par or better on the other 16 holes. She recorded birdies on holes six, 15 and 17 to lead the pack with a 71. She holds a one shot lead over Laren Martin (LMU) and Jess Brown (Wingate) and a three shot lead over Hailey McLaughlin (Wingate) heading into tomorrow's final round.

As a team, Lenoir-Rhyne sits in a tie for fifth place, 15 shots behind first place Wingate but just five behind second place Oklahoma Christian. The Bears shot a 316 (+28) on the day.

Aside from Colley, LR had Eve Nield shoot a 79 and sits in a tie for 23rd while Marta Escudero fired an 82 which places her in a tie for 39th. Jaya Wilkinson and Marta Cervero rounded out the top five scorers on the day for LR.

Tomorrow, Colley will look for LR's first individual medalist since Beatriz Espelosin took home the top spot at the Patsy Rendleman Invite on Oct. 3, 2022.
