Yui Srichantamit, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Golf Team took fourth at the SAC Championships, their highest finish since taking second in 2019. The Bears shot rounds of 304-298 to finish with a two-round total of 602 (+26). Their second round score of 298 (+10) was the third lowest on the day and helped them jump four spots in the standings.
Originally scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament, a large rainstorm on Monday forced round two to be canceled.
Leading the way individually for the Bears was
Eve Neild, who tied for seventh with a two-round score of 147 (+3). She shot 2-under on her final 10 holes to pick up an even-par 72 in her final round. She is the highest finishing Bear since Beatriz Espelosin tied for seventh in 2021. Tying for 21st with scores of 152 (+8) were
Marta Escudero Cano and
Jaya Wilkinson. Not far behind them was
Charlotte Colley, who took 25th with a 154 (+10). Both Colley and Escudero Cano shot final rounds of 75. Rounding out the field for the Bears was Hickory native
Sarah Durham, who shot rounds of 81-76 to finish with a 157 (+13), good for a tie for 27th. With 60 golfers competing, all five Bears finished in the top-half of the standings.
As a team the Bears ranked third in Par 3s (3.20, +8), fourth in Par 4s (4.26, +26), and sixth in Par 5s (5.20, +8). They finished with 21 birdies and 108 pars. Individually
Eve Neild was fourth in Par 4 scoring (4.00, E) and seventh in Par 5s (4.88, -1). Neild, Escudero Cano, and Wilkinson tied for seventh in the tournament with five birdies each.
