HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne football placed return specialist
Tye Roberson and defensive back
Desmond Greene on the D2CCA All-Super Region Two Team.
Roberson was a first team honoree while Greene was named to the second team.
Tye Roberson had one of the best return seasons in program history, setting a new record with an average of 41.9 yards per kick return. That average led NCAA DII and was second amongst all NCAA divisions. He was one of just two NCAA DII athletes with three kick return touchdowns, returning one for 98 yards against Anderson, 87 yards against Mars Hill, and 95 yards vs. Catawba. This is the first all-region honor for Roberson.
Greene led the SAC and tied for sixth nationally with five interceptions. The highlight of his season came when he tallied two interceptions and seven tackles in a 32-25 victory over Gulf South champions Valdosta State. He finished the season with 45 total tackles, six pass breakups, 1.5 TFL, and one fumble recovery. This marks his second all-region honor, as he was an All-Super Region Three Second Team honoree last season.
There were nine South Atlantic Conference honoree on the first team and eight on the second team. West Florida's Marcus Stokes was named the Super Region Three Offensive Player of the Year while Central State's Domonique Davis was the Defensive Player of the Year.
