HARTWELL, GA - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Golf team continues to shine, as they finished 2nd out of 18 teams a the Sherman B. Smith Memorial Invite, hosted by Emmanuel University.
Due to a frost warning on day two, the tournament moved from three rounds to two. The Bears shot rounds of 290-283 (573, -3) to finish in second, just one stroke behind North Georgia. The Bears and Nighthawks were the only two teams to finish the tournament under par. Catawba, who finished in third, tallied a score of 581 (+5). LR has now finished top-five in all but one event they have competed in.
Leading the way for the Bears was
Holt Allison, who took second out of 87 golfers with scores of 72-69 (141, -3). This marks his fourth top-three finish in five tournaments this year, which includes three wins. Also notching a top-five finish was
Matthew McDougall, who's rounds of 70-73 gave him a final score of 143 (-1) and put him in a tie for fifth. Rounding out the top-three finishers for the Bears was
Sean Finan, who tied for 10th thanks to rounds of 74-71 (145, +1).Â
The Bears will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday when they travel to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, to take part in the Barton Spring Clash.
