GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne men's golf team tied for eighth at the SAC Championships on Sunday/Monday. The Bears scored rounds of 312-303-309 to finish with a 924 (+60).
#5 Wingate was the top team finisher thanks to an 856 (-8). Lincoln Memorial's Harry Dickins won the individual title with a 206 (-10). Wingate, Lincoln Memorial, Catawba, and Anderson all advance to tomorrow's match play semi-finals.
Juniors
Matthew McDougall and
Slade Aliff led the Bears, each tying for 23rd with a 228 (+12). Both shot at least one round of 73, the lowest round of any Bear at the championships. Freshman
Jake Morgan was the Bears' third lowest scorer, tying for 28th with a 231 (+15).
Archie Mathers, who took 42nd, was one of just 10 individuals to card an eagle, making a 3 on the par-5 18th in round two. McDougall's 41 pars were tied for the most in the competition.
